I’ve been reading The Science of Getting Rich for the past few weeks. I’ve committed to reading a chapter of a book every morning before I start my day because I missed reading for a purpose aside from researching for my next writing assignment. The goal is to read a non-fiction book and then alternate with a fiction book to keep things interesting. 😉
I’ve enjoyed reading The Science of Getting Rich, not because I’m hoping to become extremely wealthy, but because I’ve had to change my mindset around abundance and wealth, and it never hurts to get a reminder from a new source. Wallace Wattle’s book was the inspiration for the movie The Secret, so I figured it was worth reading the book that inspired the movie that served as my introduction to the Law of Attraction.
One of the things I got from reading the book was that we don’t just have to have a clear vision of what we want in our minds, we need to have faith that it is possible, and we have to take action as if we already possess that thing. I think that we also have to prepare for the abundance we want so that when opportunities present themselves that will help us get closer to achieving our goals, we are ready to take advantage of them.
For example, suppose you want to start doing public speaking engagements. In that case, you should probably have a few speech topics prepared and bullet points on what you would talk about so that when that opportunity presents itself, you already have some ideas to pitch. The last thing you want to do is get a chance and then have to scramble to make the best of it.
I’ve written about planning ahead in the past because I’m a big fan of being prepared. Of course, there are going to be opportunities you couldn’t have imagined, nevermind prepared for, and in that case, you have to have faith that someone gave a chance to you for a reason, and you’re more than capable of making the most of it.
Vision boards, bucket lists, and visualization are great tools, but they only work if you’re willing to take the action needed to make your vision a reality. Be ready for the spontaneous and prepare for the expected. Say yes, even if you’ll have to prepare, and be willing to step outside your comfort zone.
The Science of Getting Rich isn’t simply about financial wealth; it’s about creating an abundant life, living life collaboratively, not competitively, and helping others create abundance in their lives.
Here’s to wishing you an abundant life! ❤️
