We’re coming to the close of the first quarter of 2016. If you haven’t checked in on your progress so far, now’s the time to do it. Tracking your progress is important to the achievement of your goals. You need to know how far you’ve come to know how much further you have left to go.
It’s moment of truth time. Now is the time to review what’s working and what isn’t. If you don’t check-in on this, you’ll get caught doing stuff that isn’t getting you anywhere for the rest of the year! We have to be honest with ourselves about what’s getting us closer to our goals, and what’s holding us back. We may have had ideas we thought would be awesome that didn’t work out the way that we wanted them to. If that’s the case, we have to look at why it didn’t work and what we can do differently to get the results we want.
This is also a time to celebrate our accomplishments. They don’t have to be monumental; they simply have to be something that positive that happened since the start of the year. Maybe you booked a meeting with a lead that you’ve been trying to connect with for a while. Perhaps you registered for that course that you’d been procrastinating on for the last six months. Whatever you accomplished in the last three months, big or small, make the time to celebrate them!
If you’ve struggled to get motivated this year, don’t beat yourself up about it! You still have NINE months to make 2016 an amazing year. There’s still a lot of time to accomplish great things. The key is to make sure that your goals are meaningful and important to you. Know why you are pursuing the goal. What kind of impact will achieving the goal have on your life and those around you? This knowledge is the foundation for keeping yourself motivated and inspired when you encounter obstacles along the way.
Remember that time is passing by regardless of what we choose to do with it. It’s up to us to make the best of the 24 hours that we are given each day. We can spend our time focusing on the past and beating ourselves up about the things that didn’t work. We can also spend our time worrying about the future and all the things that could go wrong and the reasons why we shouldn’t take action. There is, however, another choice. We can choose to make the best of the time we’re given, focus on our goals and take deliberate action towards making them a reality.
What will you do with the time you’ve been given today?
