If there’s one thing I’ve learned from reading the stories of successful people and personal experience, it’s that consistent effort pays off every time. If you want to make something happen, it’s going to take daily effort. It’s not something that you do when you feel like it, or when you have time. You do things every day that are going to get you closer to reaching that goal.
I’m not saying that you can’t take a break. I’m a big supporter of self-care and understand the importance of resting mind, body and soul. I do believe that success in achieving your goals takes a certain level of commitment that differentiates between recharging and simply “not feeling like it”. We have to make the time to do the things that are important to us. We are all working with the same number of hours in the day; it’s what we do with them that make the difference!
Consistent effort is a mix of persistence, focus, drive, determination and commitment. It’s almost a magical recipe for success! When you combine all of these qualities and values, and use them towards the achievement of a specific goal, you can’t help but reach it. It isn’t about luck or knowing the “right people”. Lots of people have great connections and are presented with a multitude of opportunities that would help them to make their goals a reality and yet for some reason they still struggle.
Hard work pays off, of that there can be no question. It can be hard to be patient when you want something badly, but it will be worth the wait, regardless of how frustrating it might feel right now. Think about all the stories you’ve heard of successful people who were on the verge of giving up on their dreams, and it was just at that moment that the opportunity that would turn their careers around would present itself. We all have that moment when we question whether or not we have the willpower and stamina to persevere during difficult times.
It’s these difficult times that challenge our commitment to the goal. If we want it bad enough, we don’t give up. We’re patient and we continue to do something every day that is going to contribute to the achievement of our goals. It’s not going to happen overnight, but it isn’t going to happen at all if you aren’t committed to making a consistent effort. ♥
