Visits from Wilbur ~ Part Two

May 31, 2026 Sandra Dawes

Wilbur, the pig that’s been driving our dogs crazy, has visited a couple more times, much to their chagrin. My husband’s approach to getting rid of him has been to yell at him and tell him off.

I tried a different approach because I read somewhere that pigs have better comprehension than dogs, so I asked him kindly to go away. He had a pumpkin in his mouth, so he looked at me and took his food to go.

Whenever he comes by, I talk to him, letting him know he needs to grab his food and go because my dogs don’t appreciate his company. There’s still no sign of his spider “Charlotte” to plead his case, so I guess we’ll continue the routine for now, although it’s been a few days since he last came by.

Either his owner finally tied him up, or something else happened to him, but for now, the dogs are enjoying their peace again.

In other adventures with our dogs, I discovered our boy likes to howl along to sirens. There was a police or an ambulance siren going off a couple of days ago, and he tilted his head to the sky and howled in perfect pitch with the sirens.

Maybe he knows my husband has a studio and wants to let us know he’s ready to hit the booth… 💙
