Last weekend, my husband and I went to Negril for two days. It had been ten months since I last had a beach day, and I was looking forward to floating in the sea until my fingers looked like raisins.
I enjoyed my days at the beach, but the icing on the cake was a Swedish massage with CBD oil. We’ve experienced it once before. We did it on my 48th birthday, when we stayed at the Sandals on the south coast. Both experiences were exceptional, and I wondered why it took us three years to experience them again.
It can be so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life that we forget to take time out to give our minds, bodies, and souls the rest they need. If we’re not careful, we risk burning out, which serves no one.
I do wish the break could have been longer, but I’ll take the two days, as long as it includes a CBD massage!
The drive home served as a reminder that the island is still recovering from Beryl. We saw businesses in the middle of repairs, with roofs still covered in tarps. Some hotels on the Seven Mile Beach strip aren’t planning to open until August 2026.
The timing of the break was perfect. Hurricane season starts on June 1st and doesn’t end until November 30th. I feel that after the last two years, we’ll be on high alert whenever there’s a tropical wave in the forecast, so we might as well start with a relaxed mind.
