Maintaining momentum

I have a confession to make. I only did one day of writing on my book this week. After spending the last month and a half working on the submission for ProWritingAid’s Novel Beginnings contest, I eased my foot off the gas.

I didn’t completely ignore the book this week. I reviewed the outline and started working on the next chapter. I also signed up for another writing challenge that won’t start until November. I figure I’ll use that challenge to start the work on my fourth book, which means I need to finish the first draft of the book I’m working on now by the end of the summer.

My goal is to complete the next 10 chapters by the end of June.

Besides working on new books, I’d like to record the audiobooks of my first two published books. I’ll probably start with Lulu’s book since it’s shorter, and getting that done will work as motivation to record my first book, which is longer.

While it may seem like I’m taking on a lot, I feel it will challenge me to make better use of my time. I can record some audio for my books in the morning, then head to Treasure Buds & Records to work on my book when things are quiet.

I’m excited to think that I could have a third book published by the end of the year, and possibly have started my fourth. When I wrote my first book, I thought it was the only one I had in me to write. I’m pleasantly surprised that I’ve been inspired to write more and consider myself a professional writer.
