Earlier this year, my husband decided to gift himself a puppy for his birthday. At the last minute, he suggested I pick a puppy too! 🥳
He chose the biggest boy in the litter, and I chose the runt, a small girl. His name is Sheara (lion in Punjabi), and her name is Shearni (lioness). Their names suit their personalities; she’s full of beans, and he only gets active when necessary.

Obviously, she’s the one who gets into the most trouble, but he’s always by her side. When they were young, we would tie them up at night while we were sleeping to make sure they didn’t get into any trouble.
One morning, we woke up to find him sleeping beside her. He had broken the tie to his house, but he went to be with his sister.
Whenever Shearni gets in trouble, he’s constantly barking his defence of her. When she’s getting punished and denied treats, he’ll take his and give them to her. 🥹
If she gets tied up for something she did, and he’s still free, he’ll sleep in her doghouse with her.
I didn’t grow up with siblings, so I never experienced the bond siblings have. It’s amusing to see the competition for our affections; you can’t pet one without the other coming for rubs, too.
Watching them play with toys is like watching kids. They’ll each get their own toy, but the one the sibling is playing with is always the more attractive one.
Having two dogs is a handful, but I love that they have each other to play with and keep one another entertained. It’s fun to see how they do almost everything together, though Sheara has his moody moments when he just wants to be alone for some peace of mind. 😉
Experiencing Hurricane Melissa with two dogs was a silver lining because we had more than ourselves to worry about this time. We weren’t sure how they would be indoors, considering they’re outdoor dogs, but they managed pretty well, only getting freaked out by the sounds of zinc flying everywhere.
Although they’re just over a year old and still doing puppy things, I’m grateful to have them. It’s made the second hurricane in two years a lot more bearable. Who knows, maybe they’ll get their own book like Lulu did! 😉🩵
