You know that saying, “We plan, and God laughs?” Well, I lived that experience this past weekend.
As you know, Hurricane Melissa happened just over a month ago. We still don’t have electricity, and I must confess laundry was piling up because I’m not too good at washing stuff by hand (don’t tell my mother 🤫).
We decided to head to Kingston for a couple of days to enjoy some electricity, in other words, catch up on laundry, sleep, and enjoy some air conditioning.
The first thing that didn’t go according to plan was the washer/dryer situation. It turns out that while we made sure there was a washer and a dryer at the Airbnb, it’s actually one unit that does both functions, which didn’t help my goal of getting loads done quickly.
The next thing that didn’t cooperate with the plan was that while the machine was fine to wash a load, I was getting error messages when trying to dry the same load. 😩
Finally, we had stayed in the building where the Airbnb was before, and had no issues. It’s by the National Stadium, which means, if you’re not planning on attending the parties on Friday or Saturday night happening there, you’re going to have a hard time getting a good night’s rest. The ironic thing was that Saturday night’s event was called Mellow Grooves, but the bass was anything but, setting off car alarms. 😒
The good news is we found a laundry service to get the rest of the loads done before we head back home, and we were able to visit with some friends while we were in town. 😊
With all that’s happened within the last month, it’s good to know we’re not letting things get to us, and we’re finding the humour in it all (or at least trying our best to). All I know is that I won’t be short of material for my book on experiencing Beryl and Melissa back-to-back. 🩵
