This week, I completed a month and a half of working out five days a week! 🥳 I’m consistently inconsistent with my fitness routine, and my body doesn’t like it. When my routine is off, everything falls apart.
After working out consistently for a while, my body is rewarding me with consistency in other areas of my life, including a good night’s sleep. 😴There’s nothing more annoying than being wide awake in the middle of the night, when all you want to do is sleep!
I’m using a video workout program I bought late in 2023. The program comes with beginner and intermediate workouts (14 of each). I started with the beginner workouts and have now upgraded to the intermediate level, which I must admit is quite challenging.
My physiotherapist would be proud to see me doing jumping jacks now, considering how hesitant I was to work my ankle during our appointments at times. I’m happy to report that I’m not only doing jumping jacks, but I also don’t have any pain or soreness! 🎊
I’ve gone through various stages of working out in my life. I first got serious about eating healthier and exercising in my late 20s. Back then, I was a size 18 and had no idea about portion control or harmful sugars (how can something so good be so bad?)
After completing the first 12-week program, I had lost weight and was down to a size 6-8, with my lowest recorded weight at around 145 pounds. Even after I stopped working the program, I was able to manage my weight relatively, never going back to my heaviest.
I got serious once I bought my wedding dress, because I wanted to do it justice on the day! 😉 Then COVID hit, and I continued because it was something to do when our choices were limited.
I’m back at it again, and hopefully will maintain it this time, because I am perimenopausal, and I’ve read that managing your weight is a positive way to deal with the symptoms of perimenopause. Since I’m being rewarded with positive results, I think I’ll stick with it this time.
I don’t weigh myself anymore. I don’t even own a scale. Currently, I’m using how my clothes fit, how I feel, and the operation of my internal systems to gauge whether I’m on the right track. That feels better to me than worrying about numbers on the scale.
Yes, I may take breaks every once in a while, but now that I’ve realized the long-term benefits of treating myself better, I plan to continue doing so. 🩵
