Progress Report and an Anniversary Celebration

August 22, 2025 Sandra Dawes

I’m pleased to report that I have started work on my book. 🥳 I’ve sorted out my chapter structure and identified resources I’ll need to go to when conducting my research. I’ve even figured out interview questions I want to ask the various subject-matter experts I plan to speak with.

Accomplishing those things helped me to see the path this book should be on. I was procrastinating because the project appeared daunting. I knew I had to research, but I was unsure where to start and how I would put it all together.

I remember listening to a webinar when I was writing my first book, Embrace Your Destiny: 12 Steps to Living the Life You Deserve! The presenter shared something that helped me to outline the first ten chapters of my book. She suggested asking yourself what you hope the book will accomplish, which will help you identify the different chapter headings.

She wasn’t wrong then, and that advice still holds today. I’m grateful that I’ve overcome the hurdle that seemed impossible a few weeks ago.

I was checking the sales of my second book, Lulu: Adventures in a Dog’s Life, and realized that it’s been a few days short of a year since I published it!

I remember how stressed I was feeling leading up to the submission of that book. We still had no power at home, thanks to Hurricane Beryl, which meant I had to travel with my laptop to find somewhere with internet.

Thankfully, I was able to find somewhere and submit the book before the contest deadline. 🎊

Reflecting on last year’s experience with my second book makes me feel confident that the third one will be fine because there are no deadlines, so I can work at my own pace, which is necessary considering the research I have to do. 🤓
