It’s hard to believe that we’re almost halfway through the year. While there are times when time seems to move slowly, the fact that we’re nearly at the midpoint of 2025 tells me it isn’t moving that slowly.
I think the year started positively, with the opening of Treasure Buds & Records, and we just wrapped up our first Calabash Literary Festival. With five months in operation under our belt, we better understand how to operate in the future, especially during slower times.
The next half of the year looks promising. We will contact a local clothing designer to carry his items at our shop, and I’m working on getting a dispensary license to sell cannabis products. 😊
I read from my book Lulu: Adventures in a Dog’s Life each day of the Literary Festival, which presented another opportunity. I could do something book-related regularly at the shop, so I’ll have to think about what that will look like.
It had been such a long time since I had done a book reading that I was a little rusty at first. By the time I did the reading on Sunday, I was more comfortable and engaged with the audience. There were questions about Lulu, the writing process, and, of course, whether or not we had a new dog yet.
Imagine their surprise when I said we now have two puppies! 🐶🐕
As I continue to contemplate this new opportunity at the shop, I’m wondering if this is a kick in my backside to seriously start working on my third book, and use the regular meetups for feedback on my writing.
That thought scares and excites me. On one hand, it motivates me to start writing, on the other hand, I’m making a commitment to writing regularly to have deliverables to read! 😮🤯
Now that I’ve put it out there, I need to give the idea serious consideration, and make a decision by the time we come back from our trip. 😉
We’re closing the first half of the year in Canada for a wedding. It’ll be nice to come back before July 1st and mentally prepare ourselves for the second half of 2025. I’m excited about the opportunities and possibilities that await us! 🩵
