I finally completed E-Squared last week and started E-Cubed. I think both books are a timely reminder about the importance of being mindful of one’s thoughts. It’s so easy to get caught up in the everyday craziness of life that we forget we can control how the madness affects us.
I’m aware enough that I avoid watching the news. I actually stay current on political affairs by watching late-night television shows. I appreciate being told what’s happening with humour. Getting lost in what may seem like doom and gloom can be easy, so I enjoy hearing seemingly negative news with a smile.
The first experiment in E-Cubed is a three-parter. The first part is to start your day with a feel-good song. The author gives some suggestions. Then you have to do a series of movements. The second part is for you to ask for your own cosmic joke, and the third part is to commit to being grateful for everything that happens.
You’re supposed to give yourself 72 hours to do the experiment. This morning was my first day of intentionally listening to a happy song, and I told our puppies that today would be fantastic (as if they had any doubt)! 😉
I’m looking forward to experiencing shifts in my reality now that I’m trying to be happy on purpose. Being happy on purpose is easy when life is uneventful, but it can be more challenging when something you perceive as negative happens.
Thankfully, I don’t get swallowed whole when negative experiences rear their ugly heads, but I’m trying to be better about viewing them as negative in the first place. Just because things aren’t happening the way I want or expect them to, that doesn’t mean they’re bad.
If I believe everything happens for a reason, then there can’t be any bad events, can they? 🤔
It’s funny how one’s belief system can challenge oneself sometimes. 😕
I’m up for the challenge and looking forward to positively changing my mindset! 🩵
