Doing what you love

January 26, 2024 Sandra Dawes

My husband is setting up a studio where we’re now living. He had one back home, and the sale of that studio fast-forwarded our move to our new location. He found a new location and has hired an artist to do a mural outside and some portraits inside.

I’ve been watching the artist Christopher Scott (Instagram: @christopher_scott_art) as he’s been doing his work, and it’s inspiring to see someone do what they’re passionate about. I’ve been fascinated while watching him do his work. His focus and attention to detail are immaculate.

It’s his second week working on his artwork at the studio. People have been checking out the artwork while it’s been in progress. Lots are taking pictures, and I’m sure he’s gained several Instagram followers.

The studio will practically be a small gallery of the artist’s work since he’s doing portraits of reggae greats inside.

There are two more portraits to come in the studio, and my husband has already asked him to do more artwork.

I think it’s beautiful that the artist is also an art teacher! He’s found a way to monetize his passion in various ways, which is beautiful!

Watching him work has inspired me to work on the fiction book I’ve started. I feel like my writing is similar to painting a picture. I begin with a rough idea of what I want the story to look like and add layers to it to bring it to life.

The one thing missing in my writing is a deadline for completing this book’s first draft. I will put out there that my goal is to finish the first draft of my fiction book by the end of March 2024. I will keep you posted on my progress! ❤️
