Last week, we had a meeting with some people that someone we recently connected with wanted to introduce us to. We had a general idea of where the discussion would go, but it ended up being a 3-hour discussion where the ideas we came up with were expanded, and new ideas and new people were introduced.
It almost felt like all the puzzle pieces were magically falling into place, as if Cinderella’s fairy godmother showed up at the meeting and decided to grant everyone’s wish. I’ve never witnessed anything like that before.
The closest thing to what I witnessed last week was when I was facilitating mastermind groups. I feel like that meeting was the gathering of an informal mastermind group. Everyone at the table was bringing their own specialties or services, and that meeting was about seeing how they could help each other achieve their goals.
It was very cool to see the exchanges happening and how often I heard, “I know someone who can help us out with that.” There was no ego, no competition. Everyone was looking for ways to help each other out.
It was a nice reminder that even when it isn’t a formal, structured concept, the elements of a mastermind can come together organically for the benefit of everyone involved. It’ll be interesting to see how it all unfolds and what, if anything, will manifest from that meeting.
I’m pretty optimistic about the outcome. One person at the meeting was so excited he said he wasn’t going to sleep for a week because his mind was spinning about the possibilities. I don’t know if you’ve ever experienced excitement like that, but I have, and it’s pretty refreshing.
