Nature’s wonders

December 12, 2022 Sandra Dawes

I have seen things I’d only heard about in the last few weeks. The first surprise was seeing a shooting star more than one night a week. I’d heard that it was common to see shooting stars where we are staying, but I’d never seen one until a few weeks ago.

On a road trip last week, we saw amazing rainbows. The first rainbow was the widest one I’d ever seen, and the second time it was a double rainbow. I didn’t take a picture of it because I was so caught up in the beauty of the sight.

Our friend got a new puppy a couple of weeks ago, so I’m enjoying spending time with a six-week-old puppy. They are so much fun to interact with and I love the fluffy look of their fur when dogs are young.

Even though we’ve experienced numerous power outages, which means no wi-fi, we’ve managed not to be bothered by the interruptions and enjoy the silence. I might have missed the shooting stars and the incredible rainbows if I had internet access.

Although I needed internet access to work, I’ve taken the power interruptions as a sign to slow down and enjoy life without being connected to the internet. I wouldn’t be happy if the outage lasted weeks, but it’s a few hours every few days or so, so I take it as a break.

There was a time when internet outages would stress me out, and I would be worried about the time I lost and wonder how I would make up for the lost time. Now, I realize that there will always be things out of my control, and instead of fighting them, I’m better off accepting them and moving on.

I’m enjoying our country living. I don’t mind the goats and cows taking up the road and slowing down traffic. Even with internet woes, I think I can get used to this way of life. ♥
