We hear so much about the importance of maintaining a positive mindset. We’re told that it’s one of the keys to a happy life. While I agree that mindset plays a huge role in our lives, I don’t think that having a mindset for success means that we’re happy all the time.
I think that it’s important to focus on what we want in all things. Instead of focusing on what could go wrong, we need to focus on what could go right. Rather than focusing on what hasn’t worked out in the past, concentrate on why it didn’t go according to plan and think about what could be done differently in the future. The mindset we need for success isn’t a “rose-coloured glasses” one. It’s one that focuses on the outcome you want at all times.
When we know what we want and why we want it, committing to seeing our goals through to completion is easy. It’s about understanding that reaching our goals will have impact beyond us. Of course our goals will benefit us, it’s one of the reasons we chose to pursue them in the first place. The goals that mean the most to us have that level of importance because we realize that it will benefit others. Whether that’s family, friends or a cause that is near to our hearts, our big goals will have a positive ripple effect on them.
The mindset we need for success is a committed one. Quitting is not an option when we are committed to making our goals a reality. Obstacles are an inevitable part of the process. They are not designed to be signs not to continue. As I’ve said in previous posts, I believe that they are simply tests of how committed we are to making it happen.
When things don’t go according to plan, we don’t have to throw out the plan completely, we just need to adjust it. The destination remains the same; we just have to chart an alternate course to get us there. That’s the mindset we need to have in order to make our dreams a reality.
Having a focused mindset is the magical element to creating a happy life. When you know where you want to be in all areas of your life, you focus on doing the things that will help to get you there. When challenges appear, you don’t quit, you take a look at what’s not working and adjust the plan. You know what you want and why you want it and you’re committed to making it happen.
Can you feel the magic?
