Thoughts from Majorca: Inspired Vacay reflections

September 25, 2017 Sandra Dawes

It hasn’t quite been a week since I’ve been back from my trip to Spain, Majorca to be more specific. It was for Carrie Green’s (founder of the Female Entrepreneurs Association) Inspired Vacay. It was an opportunity to reflect on what’s going on in your business, where you want to be and who you need to be to get you there.

I appreciated this time for reflection. I knew it was something I needed to make the time to do, but somehow always found myself caught up in the busy-ness of being an entrepreneur. The retreat reminded me that I have abandoned a lot of the daily habits and thoughts that have helped to keep me focused and motivated to take action in the past.

I’ve heard it said that those who say they don’t have time for meditation are the ones that need it the most. I feel like the same can be said for any of the daily habits that contribute to success. While I have been consistent with my meditation practice, there are other helpful habits that I have fallen off track with. I recent years, I have become less consistent with my journaling practice and my yoga practice has been sporadic at best.

We all have habits and thought processes that serve us and others that don’t. Getting rid of the negative habits and beliefs isn’t easy. It takes work. It takes commitment. The only thing that’s going to help us stick with it and work of establishing positive habits and beliefs is the understanding that it’s the only way to move forward.

When what you’re doing and how you’re living your life are in alignment with your dreams and goals, you feel and know that you are on your way to making them a reality. When our habits don’t serve us and aren’t in alignment with where we want to be, everything feels like a struggle. You ignore your instincts and feel pushed and pulled in so many directions, you don’t know what the next step should be.

I’m making a commitment to get in alignment with my goals in a more meaningful way. I’m going to make time for a regular yoga practice because I know the benefit I receive when I do it. I’m going to get a new notebook and start journaling again. I’m going to get more consistent with my daily gratitude practice and keep doing my daily meditation.

What habits have you abandoned that you’d like to reconnect with? What do you know has worked for you in the past that you haven’t been making time for? Share your thoughts in the comments! I’m always looking for new tools and techniques to up-level my life as well as my business 🙂
