Do you have something, or somethings that have been sitting on your wish list for what seems like forever? The start of each New Year comes along with it the vow that this will be the year? You can’t wait for the experience to become a reality, yet something seems to always get in the way. Why is that?
Maybe it’s an opportunity issue – if you want to spend a weekend with Richard Branson on Necker Island, it might take time and planning to make that happen! (I do know someone, who knows someone who manifested this reality) If you’re aspirations are less once in a lifetime in nature, the question remains – why hasn’t your goal become a reality yet? If you’ve accomplished goals in the past, then you know that there is always a way.
If it’s fear holding you back then you have to ask yourself if you’re willing to let go of ever making this goal a reality. You have to figure out where the fear is coming from and work your way through it if the goal is really meaningful to you. If you don’t find a way to deal with the fear that’s holding you back then you will be faced with a lot of regret. Think of times in the past that you did something in spite of your fears. Remember what that felt like and tell yourself if you’ve done it before, you can do it again!
If time is the issue, you’ve really got to ask yourself how important this goal really is to you. We all find time for the things that are important to us. Often, lack of time is a symptom of a lack of priorities and/or a lack of boundaries. A lack of both of these things leaves us saying yes to everything and not having enough time for the things that really matter to us. Once we’re clear on our priorities, we know what to say yes to and what to say no to without regret or explanation.
Perhaps finances are an issue. Taking 6 months to see the world isn’t a cheap endeavor, and our odds of winning the lottery are pretty slim! Again, when we want something bad enough, we find a way to do it. What can you do to raise the funds you need? Maybe it’s taking a part-time job for a few months, or cutting back on something that will allow you to save the funds necessary. Don’t think of this as a sacrifice, think of it as a means to getting you closer to the realization of your dreams!
I know from personal experience that if you’re looking for an excuse not to do something, you’ll always find one. Ask yourself if this goal is something that you really want and be honest. Maybe your vision has changes since you first identified this as a goal you wanted to pursue, and that’s okay. If this is still a goal that you really want to see become a reality, then it’s time to stop wishing and start doing. Dreaming about your goals is great, but action is what’s going to make it real. Stop looking for reasons why you can’t and start thinking about all the things you can do to make your dreams come true! ♥
