Be aware of your energy

August 28, 2016 Sandra Dawes

Last week I started reading E-Squared by Pam Grout. I just completed the third experiment of 9 and all I can say is Holy Sh#t! It’s funny that even though I’ve read books on the law of attraction, been through 2 cycles of doing the lessons in A Course in Miracles and seen proof in my own life; I am still amazed when things work out just as they should.

The third experiment is all how our thoughts affect the energy around us. The experiment asks you to straighten two wire hangers into an L-shape and cut straws down the middle to use as handles on the shorter end of the L. Once you’ve got the hangers the way you’re supposed to, you hold them out in front of you and wait for them to get steady. Once they’re steady, think of a negative experience and see what happens. Then think of a positive experience and see what happens. The experiment also asks you to see if you can move the wires to the left and to the right with your thoughts.

I won’t tell you what’s supposed to happen when you think negative versus positive thoughts. If you’ve read the book, it does tell you what to expect. You may say that I only saw what I wanted to see, but in my case, they weren’t subtle movements, they were really exaggerated. I don’t even know if there could have been a way for me to manipulate the wires to do what I wanted them to do. If you doubt that this stuff works, I highly recommend you try the experiment for yourself!

This experiment is a great reminder that our thoughts create energy. When we’re stuck in a pattern of negative thinking, we just attract more of those experiences to us. The only way to change our experiences is to change the thoughts we’re giving our time and energy to. When we choose to stop focusing on the things that have gone wrong in our lives and make a conscious decision to focus on the good in our lives and the things we want for our lives, things will start to change.

The challenge that many of us have (myself included), is that we have lived our lives stuck in negative thought patterns for a long time without even knowing it. We tell ourselves that expecting the worst is realistic. We don’t expect the best, believing that we’re protecting ourselves from disappointment instead of thinking that we’re creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I want to invite you to try something different. When you wake up tomorrow, tell yourself that something wonderful is going to happen today and look for proof that this is true. Don’t question what will happen or how it will happen, simply believe that something good is going to happen today and wait for it to unfold. Give it a try and let me know what happens!
