You can run, but you can’t hide!

Is there something that you know will have an impact on the achievement of your goals, but for whatever reason you just can’t bring yourself to do it? So much has been said about the need to step outside your comfort zone in the pursuit of your goals. We know what we could do to take our goals to the next level; we just aren’t always prepared to do it!

The crazy thing is that no matter how much we try to avoid doing these things, everything we do keeps bringing us back to the same conclusion: if we aren’t prepared to get uncomfortable and try new things, we’ll never make the progress that we want for ourselves. The bigger the goal, the larger the commitment required from us.

When there is so much resistance to trying new things and expanding our experiences, we have to ask ourselves why we’re so afraid. What’s the worst that could happen? If we try it and it doesn’t work, does that really mean that the goal isn’t worth pursuing anymore? Of course not! Often the reason why it doesn’t work out is because we’re trying to do everything on our own without ever stopping to think to ask for help!

I know that for me, whenever I have resisted doing something in my life because the idea of it filled me with dread, I would see signs everywhere about the benefits of doing exactly what I was trying to avoid. I would start getting emails about webinars on how to do the thing I didn’t want to do. I would see articles about the importance of the activity. There was one time where in a week’s span; I heard from 3 different sources that the thing I was avoiding was a game changer. I finally got the hint and gave it a try. The results? Better than expected! 🙂

I believe the universe wants what is best for us. When we state our intentions, it hears our call and sends us the help we need to make it happen. Sometimes we miss out because the help provided isn’t what we think we need or what we want to do. I think this is why it is so important to keep an open mind at all times. As a coach of mine always said, “we don’t know what we don’t know!” If we knew all the answers, we’d already be well on our way to making our goals a reality, if not already realized them!

If there’s something that you know would improve your life or take things to the next level, do it. Yes it may be scary to venture into unknown waters. Instead of thinking: “what if it doesn’t work?” ask yourself what would happen if things worked out better than you ever imagined! Stepping outside our comfort zone provides us with an opportunity to grow and to learn more about ourselves. Don’t underestimate what you are capable of. You really can do anything you put your mind to. You just have to believe. ♥
