Have you ever had that nagging feeling of discontent? You know the one. It doesn’t seem to go away regardless of how much retail therapy or tropical getaways you experience. Some of us resign ourselves to the belief that this is what life is. Some believe that we must just accept that life isn’t perfect and we can’t always get what we want, but is that the truth?
Recently the realization struck me that our discontent is a sign that we aren’t aligned with our destiny. That lack of fulfillment is an indication that we are settling. We aren’t living the life that was intended for us – one full of abundance and prosperity in all areas of our life.
This concept was solidified after watching a Steve Harvey video that I watched on Facebook a few days ago. You can watch it here. Steve eloquently shares the importance of taking a leap of faith and what choosing to stay on the ledge means for our lives. If we play it safe we’ll never be able to soar to the heights that we are destined to experience!
For me, discontent is a sign that that there is more to experience, that there’s more to do. It means that in this present moment we can choose to do something different, something that feeds our soul. We aren’t destined to be discontent. We have a choice. We can choose to play it safe and live a mundane, unfulfilled life, or we can choose to jump, and have faith that regardless of how bumpy things get, the parachute will open. Even if it doesn’t, the universe will put a net in place to catch you instead!
The next time you feel the pangs of discontent, remember this – you can choose to complain about how crappy your life is, or you can do something about it. Will you achieve the sense of fulfillment you’re looking for overnight? Absolutely not! The great thing is that when you have something to focus on, a goal to work towards, you’ll begin to feel like your life has meaning because you have a purpose, something to work towards.
We all have something that we were called to do, a gift to share with the world. Don’t let being comfortable stop you from finding contentment. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it. Think about it, do you remember the achievements that were accomplished easily, or are you most proud of those that you had to work hard to achieve? It’s never too late to create the life you want, what are you waiting for? ♥
