Taking time to express gratitude

It’s Thanksgiving weekend in Canada. Of course there is always so much to be grateful for. We sometimes forget to express gratitude for all that we have because we’re so caught up in day-to-day life. For many of us, it’s easier to think in terms of what we don’t have, what we’re still working towards, rather than focus on the daily blessings we experience.

Taking time to be grateful for all that we have, all that is going right in our lives allows us to maintain a positive mindset regardless of what else is going on. Whether it’s first thing in the morning, or the last thing we do at night, taking time to be thankful for life’s blessings can only attract more good into our lives.

Even in our worst moments there is something to be grateful for. The fact that you woke up this morning is a blessing. Do you have food in your fridge and a roof over your head? Those are things to be grateful for! We often take certain things for granted because we’ve always had them or we’ve had them for a long time. They day that we don’t miss things until their gone – let’s be grateful for what we have in each moment. That way, even if we lose certain things, we’ll know we enjoyed it while we had it!

There are so many ways to start a daily gratitude practice. You can start each morning with gratitude for the day ahead. You can list things that happened in your day before you go to bed. Gratitude journals are a great way to sit and reflect on the things you are grateful for. You don’t have to start out with a huge list. Think of 3 to 5 things to start. I know from personal experience that once you start, you’ll be amazed at how many positive things you have going on in your life!

If you’ve studied the law of attraction, then you understand that what we focus on expands. If we want more good in our lives, we have to express gratitude and focus on the good that already exists. Difficult times are a part of life. We can’t allow them to swallow us whole. Developing a daily gratitude practice helps us maintain a positive mindset regardless of the obstacles in our way.

Thanksgiving is a great time of year to connect with family and enjoy some great food! The act of giving thanks is something that we can do every day, and it doesn’t involve a big turkey dinner either 😉 If you’re interested in doing a 30 day gratitude challenge, contact me! ♥
