You may think from the title, that this is another post about the importance of persistence. That’s not what I want to talk about. I want to talk about never giving up on the existence of good in the world. This is about not losing faith regardless of how dark things may seem. It’s about keeping hope alive, even when it seems like it might be a waste of time.
Let’s face it; we all have moments when we ask ourselves “what’s the point?” We hear of all the horrible things that are happening in the world; wars, refugee crises, world hunger, human trafficking and the numerous ills of the world, and we begin to lose hope. We believe that the world is falling apart and that there is nothing that we can do to change things.
We’ve all heard it said that if you aren’t part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Is it a bit cliché? Maybe it is. Is it the truth? Absolutely! We don’t have to do things on a global scale to change the world. We simply have to start with ourselves. We have to find the strength to be kind, even when it’s hard. We must be willing to be compassionate, even when it cannot be reciprocated. We need to be able to continue to believe that good in the world exists, even when what we see in the media would have us believe otherwise.
Acts of kindness can change the world. It can mean the difference between life and death for someone. A single act of compassion can change someone’s life in ways you never could have imagined. You don’t have to be the smartest, richest or best looking in order to make a difference in someone’s life. All you have to do is follow your heart, act on your instincts and intuition when you feel called to help. Often, we are drawn to help someone, and then something or someone makes us question that calling. Give if you can, whatever you can, without expectation. The act may not be reciprocated by the receiver, but have no doubts that goodness and kindness will come full circle. You never know when you may be the one in need.
Just like persisting in the pursuit of our goals, we need to commit to our personal growth and development. Each part of our journey must help us to become better than we were the day before, in all areas of our lives. We will never experience the fulfillment we are looking for by focusing on our career, wealth accumulation or growing our business solely. In order to get the most out of life, we must approach our goals holistically. You have the power to create the life you want as well as the person you want to be. If you want to create a better world, you have the power to do so. Never give up on that belief and you are unstoppable! ♥
