As we head into the first full week of the New Year, I know that this is a time where many of us are getting ready to establish new habits in different areas of our lives. The start of a New Year provides us with a clean slate, a reason to implement new routines and let go of those that no longer serve us. While we might be riled up and ready to go in the first week of the year, how do we keep that momentum going into week 26 and all the way to week 52?
If we want to stay committed to our goals there are a few things we need to do:
While your goal may be big, it shouldn’t feel impossible. Break it down into small, manageable chunks. Create incentives. Do one thing each day that will take you closer to achieving your goal.
There are going to be things that don’t work out as planned, technical difficulties and bad weather. Don’t let these obstacles get you down for too long, dust yourself off and try again.
We don’t need others to question our goals, we can do that on our own 😉 The same goes for people who take a lot of your time with their emotional drama. There’s nothing wrong with being supportive, just make sure you don’t spend too much time on everyone else’s life and not enough dealing with your own stuff.
It’s so easy to get distracted by everything going on around us. Keep your eye on the prize (or goal) and allow yourself to be open to all of the amazing opportunities that are just waiting for us to take advantage of. Less Real Housewives, more real life action!
It is possible to stay motivated throughout the year. It just takes the right mindset, a clear goal and a plan to make it happen. Add the tips above and you’re on your way to making 2015 your best year yet. ♥
