Workout inspiration for the holidays

December 11, 2011 Sandra Dawes

It is understandable that maintaining your workout routine over the holidays may not be on the top of your list of things to do over the holidays.  With all of the shopping, baking, cooking and family visits on the agenda, finding time can be a challenge.  As stretched as our time is during the holidays, I believe that it is possible to maintain your inspiration to work-out over the holidays.  Here are a few reasons not to take a “holiday” from working out:

  1. Christmas goodies: Working out over the holidays will allow you to feel good about indulging in a few treats during the festive season.  Celebrate your commitment to maintaining your routine, but be mindful not to over-indulge.
  2. Keep your immune system strong: Working out keep s you healthy.  With all of the stress the holidays can cause, you may be more susceptible to picking up bugs.  Keeping fit is a great way to release stress and strengthen your immune system.
  3. Quality family time: You want to exercise, but you don’t want to miss out on family time, so why not combine the two?  Plan a family skating or toboggan trip, or even a day of skiing!  Outdoor family activities are a great way for everyone to get fit and bond!

Staying active over the holidays definitely has its benefits.  It will provide you with well needed energy for an activity packed time of year as well as provide you with a great springboard into the New Year.  You have maintained your workout strategy over the holidays and you’ll be all set to push yourself to new goals for the upcoming year towards creating a healthier, stronger you! ♥
