Untapping Your Limitless Potential

May 8, 2011 Sandra Dawes

I have yet to see the movie Limitless, but I must admit the movie trailers aired on television had me very intrigued!  The idea of being able to access 100% of our brains capacity is literally mind blowing!  Imagine what we would be capable of if we could tap into all of that potential, a world where nothing is impossible seems like it could only be the stuff of movies.

But what if we didn’t need a magic pill to access our potential to the fullest?  What if anything we ever dreamed of really was possible?  The question you’re probably asking yourself, is the same one that keeps eating away at me – if we do have the ability to truly do anything we wanted to, why aren’t we doing it?  Of course, as soon as the question pops into my head, I am reminded that the Wright brothers had never seen anyone else successfully build and fly a plane, yet they believed it was possible.  Before the first man landed on the moon, no one thought that was possible either…

Clearly we have been shown that things that were once only imagined can become reality, so why do we not think that we can do “the impossible” in our own lives?  Is it because we believe that to do something extraordinary is a task that “special” people are given the gift to achieve?  Who determines who is special?  Is it something that is determined at birth?  Is it inherited, requiring one or both parents to be special in order to have the same gift?

I recently started reading the Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East and have been completely moved by what I have read so far.  OF the six volumes, I have completed the first 2.  These books, along with my daily A Course in Miracles lessons, have really hit home for me the fact that we are all capable of the extraordinary!  While some may consider it blasphemous for me to say it, I now believe that we are all capable of performing miracles, like those that Jesus performed in the Bible or those of other religious profits.

What made these spiritual leaders powerful was their understanding that, as children of God, we have inherited all of his power and divinity.  We are not separate from God, but ONE with him.  I think that it is much easier for us to believe that we are separate from God than face the truth.  To believe that He is some all powerful being, overseeing our actions rewarding the good and punishing the bad leaves us powerless and without responsibility.  To believe that we are all children of God with a mighty inheritance compels us to do better, to stop being controlled by our fears and to truly put our faith in that which we do not see, but most certainly feel in our hearts.

I am excited about where my unlimited potential will take me.  I am going to remove “I Can’t” from my vocabulary!  I am not just going to talk about no limits, I am going to hold that belief in my heart and expect that anything I put my mind to will become a reality.  It isn’t about testing my faith, but actually embracing it and making it a part of everything I do.  I AM a child of God and I am going to show my gratitude for the gifts he has forsaken me by using them to the fullest! ♥
